Maschine Jam Mapping with Colored HOT CUE Feedback for Traktor Pro

The AIO3 mapping for Maschine Jam and Traktor Pro includes a fully visual colored HOT CUE feedback system. In this guide, you will learn exactly how the colored HOT CUE states work on the Maschine Jam pad grid and what each color means during a live performance. Moreover, you will see how this visual feedback connects directly to what is shown in Traktor Pro’s cue point panel. First, however, let’s look at what the color system actually does.

What Are Maschine Jam HOT CUE Colored States?

In standard Traktor Pro, hot cues mark numbered points on a track. In the AIO3 mapping, however, each hot cue also gets a specific color on the Maschine Jam pad grid, reflecting its current state. As a result, you can see at a glance which cue points are active and which carry special functions — all without looking at the computer screen.

In particular, the top row of the 8-pad grid covers hot cues 1 through 4, while the bottom row covers hot cues 5 through 8. Furthermore, each pad color corresponds directly to the cue color that Traktor Pro displays in its cue list at the bottom of the screen.

Maschine Jam HOT CUE Color Map — All 8 Pads

The following colors are visible on the Maschine Jam grid and each one indicates a specific HOT CUE state:

Pad Color Function / State
1 White / grey UNDO — last cue action can be undone
2 Green REDO — redo the last undone cue action
3 Gold / orange QUANT — cue point with quantize enabled
4 Blue QUANT 50% — cue point with 50% quantize
5 Blue Hot cue set and active
6 Blue Hot cue set and active
7 Yellow / gold Hot cue set, different type or state
8 Gold / orange Hot cue set, different type or state

The color of each pad therefore tells you the exact state of that cue point at any moment. Consequently, you never need to look away from the hardware to understand which cues are available.

Colored HOT CUE Feedback in the Traktor Waveform

In addition to the pad colors on the Maschine Jam, the same color coding also appears directly in the Traktor Pro waveform. As shown in the image, each stored cue point appears as a colored marker pin above the waveform, with its number clearly visible. For example, cue points 2 and 3 sit near the start of the track, while cue points 4, 5, and 7 land further into the waveform. Moreover, cue points 6 and 8 appear in the second half of the track.

This means the visual feedback runs in both places simultaneously — on the Maschine Jam pads and in the Traktor Pro waveform — so you always have a complete picture of your cue point layout.

HOT CUE Controls in Traktor Pro

Below the waveform, the Traktor Pro cue panel shows the full set of controls that work together with the colored HOT CUE mapping. In particular, these include:

  • CUE — sets or jumps to a cue point
  • CUP — cue and play simultaneously
  • Loop size buttons — 1/4, 1/2, 1, 2, 4 bars
  • IN / OUT — set loop in and out points manually
  • STORE — saves the current cue point to a slot
  • MAP — assigns the cue point to a pad

Furthermore, the cue list at the bottom of the panel shows all 8 cue slots with their assigned colors — white, orange, green, blue, and yellow — which match exactly the pad colors on the Maschine Jam. As a result, the hardware and software always stay in perfect visual sync.

Why Colored HOT CUE Feedback Matters in a Live Set

Without colored feedback, navigating eight hot cues in a dark club environment requires memorizing pad positions. With the AIO3 colored HOT CUE system, however, you can identify cue states instantly by color alone. For example, a white pad always means UNDO is available, while a green pad confirms REDO. Similarly, blue pads indicate active cue points, and gold or orange pads signal quantized cues.

In other words, the color system turns the Maschine Jam into a visual performance tool, not just a MIDI controller. Consequently, your reaction time during transitions improves significantly, especially under pressure.

Compatible Mapping Versions

The colored HOT CUE feedback system is available in version 2 of the Maschine Jam mapping for Traktor Pro. In total, the AIO3 mapping package includes multiple configurations to suit different deck setups. Furthermore, all versions include the full 8-pad colored cue system described on this page.
